Well we're starting the new season with a partially completed stadium and a brand new coach. We have Jamarcus Russell as the starting QB. He will be competing with another sophomore Matt Flynn for the starting position but Russell is the obvious choice (in my opinion). Though Les Miles is a proven winner he has yet to prove himself in south Louisiana. He has some awful big shoes to fill in trying to keep up the Nick Saban program at LSU. We're already gonna be a few thousand fans short but hopefully the appearance of our stadium will not affect our team's performance.
My question is: Do you think we can hold on to the #5 spot and advance or are we going to slip slide away?

I dont see how LSU can stay #5 for very long. I think the number is way overrated. Top 25 maybe, but certainly not top 5.
Of the non-conference schedule, UNT is probably the toughest game, yet it should be an easy win. However, LSU has a history of coming close to losing easy wins. Everyone should remember how we almost lost our first game last year.
LSU has the potential, but I doubt they'll take advantage of it.
