Georgia-Georgia Tech rivalry moving locations in ’25

One of the oldest rivalries in college football will be getting a new home in 2025. Georgia and Georgia Tech announced they will meet for their annual regular season finale in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2025 instead of Bobby Dodd stadium on Georgia Tech’s campus.

Georgia Tech currently has a contract with Mercedes-Benz stadium to play at least one game per year there. However, this will be the first time–besides the COVID year–in a century that the two teams will not meet on campus.

The reason for the move is the same reason for most changes we’ve seen across the landscape of college football the past few years – money. Georgia Tech Athletic Director J. Batt announced that agreeing to play next year’s edition of ‘Clean Old Fashioned Hate’ would net the athletic department $10 million which Batt called a “transformative revenue lift for Tech Athletics.”

The game will return to Bobby Dodd Stadium in 2027.
