Texas AandM star LaViolette to play against LSU after injury

Texas A&M outfielder Jace LaViolette will play Friday night against LSU in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals one day after breaking a finger on his left hand. Ryan Brauninger of TexAgs was the first to report the news.

LaViolette, an All American and likely first round pick in July’s MLB Draft, took a pitch off his left hand Thursday against Auburn. His hand was heavily wrapped and his finger in a splint in the dugout after the injury.

LaViolette is hitting .256 on the season with 18 homeruns.

The winner between LSU and Texas A&M will advance to Saturday’s semifinal against Ole Miss after the Rebels defeated Arkansas Friday.
