Blake Baker might be an option for his alma mater’s head coaching vacancy.
Just hours after it was reported that new head coach Lane Kiffin intended to keep Baker as LSU’s defensive coordinator, the former Green Wave linebacker was in New Orleans interviewing for the Tulane job according to Garland Gillen of Fox 8. Baker starred at Tulane from 2000-2004.

After taking over a defense which ranked 108th in total defense, Baker’s unit made strides in 2024, and in 2025 LSU finished the regular season 25th nationally.
Kiffin’s Ole Miss defense was led by Pete Golding who was named Ole Miss’s head coach on Sunday. It’s expected that many of Ole Miss’s defensive staffers will remain with the program.
Baker chose edge rushers coach Kevin Peoples and safeties coach Jake Olson when he took the LSU job. Should Baker stay with LSU, the defensive staff could feature some continuity. A departure could shake things up significantly on that side of the ball.
