Whit Weeks suffered broken leg Saturday night

LSU’s defense will be without its captain for the foreseeable future.

Whit Weeks broke his fibula Saturday night against Texas A&M. There is no firm timeline for his return according to On3’s Wilson Alexander and Pete Nakos.

Weeks broke his ankle last September against Ole Miss. He tried to play through the pain but missed five games. The senior linebacker spurned the professional ranks to return to LSU for his senior season. He was awarded No. 7 prior to the season as the top playmaker on the defensive side of the ball.

Through four games, Weeks has been credited with 23 stops including 2.5 tackles for loss. He leaves a void beside TJ Dottery in the middle of the Tiger defense that leads the nation in stopping the run.

Tylen Singleton and Davhon Keys both logged significant snaps Saturday night in Weeks’s absence.

LSU steps out of conference play this week as McNeese makes the trip over from Lake Charles.
