While they are no longer one of the teams with the most cap space remaining, the New Orleans Saints still have room to maneuver should any remaining free agents interest them.
Per OverTheCap.com, the Saints rank No. 27 in available salary cap space with roughly $8.29 million remaining after signing their entire draft class.
Only the 51 highest-paid players presently count against the salary cap, leaving the Saints ample room to continue dealing in free agency within reason.
This is evidenced by the fact that New Orleans does have a contract offer out to defensive end Cameron Jordan, who is one of seven outgoing free agents who remain available.
Any multi-year deals would likely be structured with a low first-year salary, giving the Saints some flexibility. Short-term deals could be a bit trickier to manage depending on the total contract terms.
Perhaps most intriguing for the franchise is the rare feat they’ve achieved looking ahead to 2027.
New Orleans currently ranks No. 13 in cap space available in 2027, $48.96 million under the limit. This is while already having the second-most players on contract around the league with 68. It’s a very healthy situation for the team’s financial future that should allot them a chance to remain competitive and active in the open market.
This is a far cry from the typical tens of millions of dollars the team is usually in the red a year ahead.
After an active free agency in 2026 in which the team spent $186.4 million in total, the Saints are in position to make moves this offseason and are in their best future position fiscally in some time.
