First Men’s AP Top 25 Basketball poll released

College basketball season is officially underway as teams from across the country began their first practices this past weekend. That also means it’s time for the first official rankings of the season as well, and earlier Monday the AP Top 25 was released.
Nine different SEC teams made the poll, led by No. 2 Alabama who received their highest preseason ranking in program history. Two-time defending national champion Connecticut debuted at No. 3 while perennial blue-blood Kansas earned the top spot.
John Calipari’s former team Kentucky is ranked at No. 23, their lowest preseason ranking since 2008, which Calipari’s Arkansas team is at No. 16.
