BATON ROUGE, La. — While his on-field staff is complete, Brian Kelly isn’t finished adding to his support staff.
According to multiple reports, ECU general manager Noah Joseph is joining LSU as a defensive analyst while former Louisiana Tech and NFL quarterback Tim Rattay will serve as an offensive analyst.
Joseph joined the Pirates in December, but is headed to Baton Rouge after less than two months on the job.
Prior to his short stint at ECU, Joseph spent the previous two seasons as the general manager for Purdue. According to his bio, while at Purdue, Joseph “was responsible for player personnel and roster management, scouting and player evaluation, recruiting budget, management of name, image and likeness (NIL) as well as revenue sharing along with various other items.”
At LSU, Joseph will once again be working on the field, which he has done since becoming at graduate assistant at Drake in 2000. Before joining Purdue, he was an analyst at Missouri as well as co-defensive coordinator at Rutgers. Joseph’s career has also seen stops at Indiana, North Texas, Eastern Illinois and Montana State.
Rattay was a standout quarterback at Louisiana Tech from 1997-99 ranking No. 2 in NCAA history in total offense (12,618), No. 2 in passing touchdowns and No. 2 in passing yards when he finished his career. He played eight years professionally, six in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers.
He began his coaching career with the United Football League’s Las Vegas Locomotives.
Rattay returned to his alma mater the following year and coached six seasons at Louisiana Tech, first as wide receivers coach then as quarterbacks coach. He then spent a year with Washington in the NFL before taking a job at Oklahoma State as the quarterbacks coach from 2020 through last season.
Rattay worked with LSU offensive coordinator Joe Sloan at Louisiana Tech.
