Major Burns will not play in the Texas Bowl for LSU

Major Burns did not travel with LSU to the Texas Bowl.
The senior started 33 games for LSU over four seasons. His 47 tackles this season rank fifth on the team. Burns manned the STAR position in Blake Baker’s defense this season, but he won’t be on the field for the finale.
Redshirt freshman Javien Toviano will likely fill Burns’s vacated position. Toviano has only totaled six tackles for LSU this year but has played in all 12 games.
With Sage Ryan’s portal entry and subsequent transfer to Ole Miss, it’s likely that Toviano will be joined in the Tiger secondary by fellow freshman DaShawn Spears. Junior Jardin Gilbert will provide some veteran presence.
LSU and Baylor will kick off from NRG Stadium in Houston at 2:30 on Tuesday.
