Saints sign Haynesworth, Bradford to practice squad

The New Orleans Saints have announced a few adjustments to their practice squad. One of which indicates the potential return of a player that will be a key contributor in the absence of tight end Taysom Hill.

Here are the moves the Saints announced Tuesday afternoon:

The termination of Kibodi’s contract indicates the return of second-year running back Kendre Miller. Interim head coach Darren Rizzi said that the team expects to open Miller’s 21-day return window from his second Injured Reserve stint. With Hill’s season now over with a knee injury, Miller could play a pivotal role in complementing star back Alvin Kamara’s game moving forward.

It was no surprise to see Bradford back after he was waived Saturday before the Saints took on the Los Angeles Rams. He has been a developing contributor as a special teams member and provides young depth in the defensive backfield as well. The Saints are clearly high on his potential, so his return felt inevitable as he was released.

Haynesworth has been on and off the Saints roster. But with the Week 13 injury to interior lineman Nick Saldiveri and undrafted free agent guard Kyle Hergel moving to the active roster, bringing Haynesworth back makes a ton of sense. It sets the Saints up to have further depth beyond their roster on the offensive line and perhaps sets up further shuffling on the practice squad. Perhaps a wide receiver like Kevin Austin Jr. could soon be seeing a call up to the 53-man roster this week.
