Brown was the head coach at West Virginia from 2019 to 2024. He had an overall record in Morgantown of 37-35. Prior to his time in Morgantown, he was the head coach at Troy where he led the Trojans to a 35-16 record, including three straight ten win seasons and three straight bowl victories.
This would not be Brown’s first role on an SEC staff. He was the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator for Kentucky in 2013 and 2014. He’s also not unfamiliar to the region being that he coached for over a decade at Troy, Kentucky, and Texas Tech.
There’s no word yet from Texas what his exact role would be.
