With Tropical Storm Francine bearing down on the Louisiana coast, Brian Kelly and his staff are preparing for contingencies as LSU readies to play at South Carolina this week.

“There’s one thing I’ve learned about being here at LSU: there are plans over plans over plans when people talk about hurricanes,” Kelly said. “We have a plan in place for Wednesday, Thursday because that’s when its imminent.  The next stage is thunderstorms for Saturday and disruption of the game.”

Kelly noted he met with strength and nutrition staffs Monday to prepare for all possibilities.

LSU is no stranger to games affected by weather.  The Tigers moved their season opener against Arizona State in 2005 to Tempe after Hurricane Katrina.  Later that season, they played on a Monday night against Tennessee when Hurricane Rita threatened.  Most recently, the 2016 game against Florida was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew.

The Tigers and Gamecocks are scheduled for an 11 a.m. kickoff from Williams-Brice Stadium.  ESPN’s College Gameday will be originating from Columbia, SC.
