AJ Swann leaving LSU, will play in bowl game

A second LSU quarterback is leaving town. AJ Swann tole On3 that he will enter the Transfer Portal after just one season in Baton Rouge. He will play in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl against Baylor before moving to his new destination. LSU redshirt freshman Rickie Collins entered the portal a week ago and will reportedly sign with Syracuse.

Swann began his career at Vanderbilt, where he started 12 games over two seasons with the Commodores. He backed up Garrett Nussmeier this season, seeing action briefly against Florida and Oklahoma when Nussmeier exited due to injury. He completed two of his four pass attempts for ten yards.
LSU added Mississippi State transfer quarterback Michael Van Buren via the portal last week. Freshman Colin Hurley is also on the roster for 2025. The Tigers did not sign a high school quarterback in the December signing period after top prospect Bryce Underwood flipped to Michigan with less than a week before Signing Day.
