Alabama adds Louisiana RB Dre’lyn Washington from transfer portal

Alabama added running back depth from the transfer portal, signing Dre’lyn Washington from Louisiana after an official visit on Jan. 2.

As a redshirt sophomore last season, Washington rushed for 478 yards and five touchdowns. He spent three seasons with the Ragin’ Cajuns, finishing with nearly 1,500 yards of offense and 11 touchdowns.

Washington will bolster a backfield that is losing two of its top three leading rushers, with Jalen Milroe declaring for the NFL draft and Justice Haynes transferring to Michigan. Washington has two years of eligibility remaining and is the eighth addition for the Tide from the transfer portal since it opened on Dec. 9.
