Former LSU All American Alan Faneca is on the 2026 NFF College Football Hall of Fame ballot. The organization released the list of 79 players and nine coaches from the FBS Monday. It is Faneca’s second year up for election.

Faneca, a New Orleans native who played high school football in Texas, redshirted in 1994 before starting 36 consecutive games for the Tigers. In 1997, he was named a consensus All-American and an Outland Trophy Finalist.

Following his junior season, Faneca was a first round selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played 13 seasons with the Steelers, Jets and Cardinals, earning six First-Team All-Pro honors and twice being named Second-Team All-Pro. Faneca was elected to nine Pro Bowls and was a member of the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team.

Faneca was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.

“For more than 65 years, the NFF College Football Hall of Fame has stood as the sport’s ultimate archive, honoring those whose impact on the game still echoes today,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. “This year’s ballot carries forward that responsibility, spotlighting individuals who not only excelled on the field but also helped define what college football means to so many.”

Former Tigers in the College Football Hall of Fame include: Gus Tinsley, Ken Kavanaugh Sr., Abe Mickal, Doc Fenton, Tommy Casanova, Billy Cannon, Jerry Stovall, Charles Alexander, Bert Jones, Glenn Dorsey, and Kevin Faulk.

Five former LSU coaches have also been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame: Dana Bible, Mike Donahue, Biff Jones, Bernie Moore and Charles McClendon.

More than 12,000 NFF members will vote on this year’s class along with current Hall of Famers.
