Daniels To Start Season Opener
08/19/2024

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn officially named Jayden Daniels the team’s starting quarterback on Monday.
Daniels, the No. 2 overall selection in the April draft, was competing with veteran Marcus Mariota for the job. Daniels had earned the first team reps dating back about three weeks, so the news was expected.
The reigning Heisman Trophy winner has started both of the Commanders’ preseason games. He has completed 12 of his 15 attempts for 123 yards. He added a rushing touchdown in the opener versus the Jets.
Washington opens the season at Tampa Bay on September 8.
