Daniels wins NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year

For the second consecutive year, Jayden Daniels is the best among his peers.

Just 13 months after lifting the Heisman Trophy, Daniels was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year on Thursday at NFL Honors in New Orleans.

Daniels spearheaded a complete turnaround of the Washington Commanders organization leading the team to 12 wins for the first time since 1991. Washington also won a playoff game for the first time since 2005.

The LSU product set a rookie record for quarterback rushing yards and became the first rookie in league history to win 10 games with 30-plus touchdowns and 4,000-plus yards.

Just as consistent as his production was his flare for the dramatic.

Daniels is just the second rookie quarterback ever with back-to-back double-dight comebacks in the second half of a game, joining Andrew Luck, who did it in 2012.

In total, Daniels led the Commanders from behind five times in the second half using his trademark calmness, quick decision making and devastating scrambling ability.

In winning the award, Daniels becomes the third Tiger the enter the club, joining Ja’Marr Chase (2021) and Odell Backham Jr. (2014). He’s the first Washington winner since Robert Griffin III (2012).

Daniels edged his college teammates Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. for the award. Both were finalists.

Daniels later won the NextGen Stats Moment of the Year for the Haily Mary that beat Chicago in Week 8.
