Former Texas DT Sydir Mitchell commits to LSU

LSU’s defensive line added a big piece on Friday.
Sydir Mitchell, a 6-foot-6, 320 lbs., defensive tackle from Texas announced his commitment to LSU. Mitchell signed with Texas when LSU defensive line coach Bo Davis held the position there.

In two seasons with the Longhorns, Mitchell totaled seven tackles over eight games. He redshirted in 2023 and played four games in 2024 as a freshman.
Mitchell announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on December 11, but he never officially entered. After consideration, he made that official on the 16th.
As a prospect, the big New Jersey native was ranked a four-star by On3, ESPN and Rivals. ESPN called him the No. 6 defensive lineman in the class.
LSU returns graduate Jacobian Guillory as well as sophomores-to-be Dominick McKinley and Ahmad Breaux at defensive tackle entering 2025. Mitchell will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
