Friday Night Lines: Movements for SEC Week 9

By Chris Marler
We are less than 18 hours away from Week 9 kickoffs in the SEC, and there has been some significant line movement from Vegas on the Saturday slate. Five of the six games saw line movement this week.
The only game that didn’t is Ole Miss being favored by 20 over visiting Oklahoma. Perhaps the main reason that line didn’t move is that it’s the highest spread Oklahoma has faced as an underdog in nearly 27 years.
Outside of that game, the lines that stand out the most are in the marquee games. The Alabama line is a mild surprise, but mainly that it only moved 2.5 points after the news of starting quarterback Brady Cook being out for Missouri. Alabama is in danger of not covering the spread for three consecutive home games for the first time since 2017.
The three lines that I liked the most at the start of the week were three underdogs: Mississippi State +8, LSU +3.5, and Auburn +3. All three of those lines have dropped in favor of the underdogs. However, all three favorites remained.
Here is a look at the opening lines and where the current lines stand for all six SEC games this weekend.
