Harold Perkins Jr. suffered torn ACL, will miss rest of 2024

One month into the season two crucial Tiger defenders are lost for the season.
According to a report from CBS Sports Matt Zenitz, junior linebacker Harold Perkins suffered a torn ACL in LSU’s win over UCLA. He will not return this season, joining senior defensive tackle Jacobian Guillory who ruptured his Achilles against Nicholls State.
The injury occurred on a third and 35 play where Perkins collided with UCLA’s Jalen Berger in the middle of the field. Perkins was able to walk to the sideline and to the locker room, but imaging done Sunday confirmed the tear.
Perkins is a two-time all-SEC performer at linebacker and gives the Tigers plenty of versatility with his athleticism. Through a month of play, the former five-star recruit had been credited for 17 tackles including 1.5 for loss. He did not register a sack. In his career, Perkins has been 27.5 tackles for loss and 13 sacks.
The loss of Perkins creates a serious lack of proven depth for LSU at linebacker. Greg Penn Jr. and Whit Weeks will man the two inside positions. Beyond that duo, senior West Weeks and a host of freshmen may be called to action. West Weeks has missed the last two weeks with an injury.
LSU will play its final non-conference game Saturday evening South Alabama before the first open date the following weekend.
