ICYMI: Is this the week Texas A&M finally falls out of the rankings?

By Chris Marler
Social media can be the worst.
One of the weirdest trends with humans since its inception has been watching people given the cloak of anonymity and then choosing to be the worst version of themselves because of it.
However, every once in a while there are some stories on social media that remind you of the good in people. That’s where we start this week’s In Case You Missed It.
East Carolina with the moment of the year
I know, I know this is supposed to be about the SEC. However, this deserves a spotlight.
Parker Byrd and the Pirates tugged on all the heartstrings this weekend. Byrd lost his leg in a boating accident before his freshman season in 2022. Still, his head coach Cliff Godwin kept him on scholarship.
College baseball’s absurd rules allows teams only 11.7 scholarships. So, to keep Byrd on scholarship was an incredibly nice move from ECU and Godwin. On Friday, Byrd paid them back by becoming the first player in D1 history to record a base hit with a prosthetic leg.
HISTORY. MADE.

Tweet of the Week
Tennessee and LSU remain on a collision course to decide the SEC and national frontrunner. Though they won’t face off for another month, their social media banter has been hilarious.
How much of an advantage is Linsey Nelson stadiums small size?

The last weekend of April cannot get here fast enough.
Texas A&M better be unranked
We’ve seen this before in college baseball. Teams that get the benefit of the doubt strictly based off roster talent and preseason confirmation bias. Florida is a team that seems to get that benefit of the doubt always.
With just one month of college baseball behind us, Texas A&M has emerged as the team fitting this year’s narrative. Despite not winning a national title last season or retaining their head coach, the Aggies still entered the year as the preseason No. 1.
Fast forward to the first weekend of SEC play, and the Aggies are .500 and just got swept at home at Alabama. It’s taken a lot for the polls to drop A&M this year. Even at 9-6 they still managed to come into this weekend as a top 20 team. Come Monday, it would be an absolute shock if they were still ranked.
