LSU will forgo its traditional spring game this year, opting for an open practice at Tiger Stadium on April 12. Gates open at 9:30 a.m., with free admission and a post-practice autograph session. The decision was discussed on 104.5 ESPN’s Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and T-Bob Hebert.
The move follows a growing trend across college football as teams limit roster exposure before the transfer portal reopens. While Brian Kelly dismissed concerns about player poaching, programs like Alabama and Oklahoma have also changed their spring formats.
LSU’s open practice will provide fans with a closer look at key drills, including red-zone work, third-down situations, and special teams reps—offering more insight than a typical spring game.
