Each week during the college football season, Phil Steele joins “After Further Review” with Matt Moscona to preview the biggest games of the weekend. Here is how Steele sees the LSU vs. South Alabama game going:

I think it’d be a high scoring game because (Garrett) Nussmeier and company are really potent. I love the way Nussmeier throwing the football this year and they’ve got the weapons across the board at receiver and running back. They’ll put some points on the board. You go back to the first game of the season, South Alabama gave up 550 yards North Texas. But I do like this South Alabama offense and the thing I’ll point out that is you look at their four games and against Ohio, they only had 20 points and 335 yards. Guess what? Gio Lopez, their quarterback, did not play, so in the three games that Gio Lopez has played for South Alabama, they’re averaging a total of 557 points per game and 559 yards per game. So I like the over, but I would also lean with South Alabama and I think they could keep it within 21. I definitely like LSU to win the game, but even if LSU’s up by 28 late, you gotta figure South Alabama could get the back door cover and until LSU actually wins the game, spread wise, let’s let’s go with South Alabama and ride that streak. So I’m taking LSU to win the game comfortably in a high scoring game. But I’ll take South Alabama, plus the three touchdowns.
