By Chris Marler
It didn’t take long for Nate Oats and his staff to get back to work following Alabama’s blowout loss against Duke Saturday night.
According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Alabama will begin hosting prospects from the transfer portal as early as Monday. One of the first players they’re set to meet with is former LSU freshman Corey Chest.

Chest is a 6-foot-8, 220 pound former four-star recruit from New Orleans. He finished his freshman season shooting over 60 percent from the field, with 6.1 ppg and 6.6 rebounds per game. Those numbers may not jump off the page initially, but his performance against Alabama in Tuscaloosa earlier this season clearly stood out to Nate Oats.
Against Alabama, Chest had his best game of the season racking up 12 points, 18 rebounds, three blocks, and two steals.
