Report: Mike Bobo signed extension prior to 2024 season

Outside of politics and the color of that sequin dress on Facebook a decade ago, few things have divided people more on social media than Mike Bobo’s job security this offseason.
Unbeknownst to most of the Georgia fanbase, the answer to that question was found before last season began. Also, the dress was white and gold, but I digress.
News came out Thursday that Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo signed an extension prior to 2024. The deal will keep the polarizing play caller on staff through the 2026 season. Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald initially reported the news.

After delivering a successful 2023 campaign, Bobo signed the extension, which includes a built-in annual raise of $100,000 through 2026.
Currently earning $1,403,000, Bobo will receive his first pay increase on July 1, bringing his salary to $1,503,000 for 2025. The following year, his earnings will rise again to $1,603,000 in 2026.
Bulldog fans reacted with mixed reviews to the news, as the offense struggled in Bobo’s second year. While some regression should have been expected after losing key playmakers like Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers, the decline was still significant.
In 2024, Georgia’s offense averaged 31.5 points per game, dropping more than eight points from the previous season. Additionally, the rushing attack posted its worst statistical performance of the Kirby Smart era, adding to concerns about the unit’s overall efficiency.
It won’t get any easier for the Bulldogs offense going into 2025. Georgia will be breaking in a new quarterback, losing three offensive lineman, and their leading wide receiver and running back.
Georgia kicks off the 2025 season on Aug. 30 against Marshall.
