Report: Saints to interview Broncos QB coach Webb

By Ross Jackson
NEW ORLEANS — This one is certainly unexpected.
Per FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the New Orleans Saints have requested to interview Denver Broncos quarterback coach Davis Webb.

Wednesday morning, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.football refuted the report.

Webb is, by far, the youngest candidate on the Saints’ list. At just 29 years of age, depending on when New Orleans announces their hire, he would become the youngest head coach in NFL history. Webb will turn 30 years old on Jan. 22, the youngest coaching hire in history also happened at age 30, when the Los Angeles Rams hired Sean McVay.
The difference between Webb and McVay however is clear. McVay, by his age 30 year, already had multiple seasons of coaching experience including two as an offensive coordinator with the Washington Commanders.
Webb, on the other hand, has just two seasons of quarterback coaching experience. Webb does have player experience, however.
He entered the league in 2017 as a third-round draft picks by the New York Giants. He would also spend time with the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills before finishing his playing career with a second stint with the Giants.
He was then hired to the Broncos staff in 2023, giving him two years experience with former Saints head coach Sean Payton.
This interview doesn’t feel like it will go very far at its surface, but one never knows. He could impress and earn a second interview once in-person interviews become possible for playoff coaches.
If nothing else, it shows the Saints are looking at several different avenues for their next head coach.
