Saints hold private workout with Syracuse QB McCord

NEW ORLEANS — The 2025 quarterback draft class continues to get a lot of attention from the New Orleans Saints this offseason. After being connected to top quarterback prospects like Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado passer Shedeur Sanders, one of the latest options is a Syracuse pro-style passer.
Per Mike Garofolo of NFL Media, Saints quarterback coach Scott Tolzien held a private workout with Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord.

New Orleans has three former NFL quarterbacks leading its offense with Tolzien, head coach Kellen Moore and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier. Taking a quarterback in this year’s draft would make sense as the Saints are clearly equipped to develop a young passer.
The 6-foot-3, 218-pound McCord was outstanding in his lone season with the Orange in 2024. He spent his first three seasons at the college level with Ohio State.
In 2024, the quarterback led all FBS passers in completions (391) and passing yards (4,779). He also tossed 34 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions. Five of the interceptions came in one game against Pitt.
McCord is often viewed as a late-day two or early-day three draft prospect, which is right where the Saints have taken swings at the quarterback position over the last pair of years.
