Saints Re-sign Fairchild

Rookie tight end Mason Fairchild is back with the New Orleans Saints, the team announced Wednesday. Defensive Tackle Tyler Baugh was waived to make room on the roster.
Fairchild originally signed with the Saints Aug.3, but was waived three days later. During his five seasons at Kansas, the 6-foot-4, 260 pound tight end played in 37 career games with 75 receptions for 1,022 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Saints tight end Ju’Juan Johnson is recovering from offseason foot surgery and has not participated in training camp. Veteran Foster Moreau and rookie Dallin Holker have gotten he bulk of the tight end reps in camp. Michael Jacobson and Kevin Rader are the other tight ends on the roster.
The Saints, who opened camp in Irvine, California, July 24, play their second preseason game Sunday night at San Francisco before returning to New Orleans for the remainder of Training Camp.
