Saints release running back Jamaal Williams

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Saints have parted ways with veteran running back Jamaal Williams, per a team announcement and the NFL transaction wire.
The move saves the Saints $1.59 million against the salary cap in 2025.
Williams signed with the Saints after he led the NFL in rushing touchdown in 2022. In New Orleans, Williams’s role was significantly limited, and he totaled just two rushing touchdowns in his two years with the team.
The Saints will now move forward with four running backs on their roster in star back Alvin Kamara, third-year running back Kendre Miller, Jordan Mims and reserve/future signing Xazavian Valladay. The team also re-signed former LSU back Clyde Edwards-Helaire earlier this year
Running back has been a popular position for Saints outlooks in this year’s upcoming draft as well. Williams’s release makes that outcome all the more likely.
