WATCH: Spencer Rattler Runs For A Score In His First NFL Drive

It did not take long for rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler to make some noise. In his first preseason drive as an NFL quarterback, Rattler orchestrated a solid drive and eventually ran into the endzone for a 4-yard score.

The play was originally ruled out of bounds at the one-yard line. But head coach Dennis Allen decided to challenge the play, and it was overturned and ruled a rushing touchdown.
Rattler put a nice ball deep for wide receiver A.T. Perry, who caught a great deep ball from passer Jake Haener in the first half, but the pass could not be reeled in. However, the defender on Perry was called for defensive pass interference on the play, helping the team move the ball down field. The pass, though not completed, was well placed and timed by Rattler.
The rookie signal caller went on to complete his only pass of the drive to fellow rookie and tight end Dallin Holker for a 15-yard catch and run. The pass came off of a boot action play wherein Rattler rolled out to his right and placed the pass well to hit his tight end in stride.
After a few run plays, Rattler dropped back to pass deep in the red zone on a third and goal. He felt pressure from his left, scrambled to his right and willfully took on some contract at the line of scrimmage. In doing so, he was able to get the ball just across the pylon at the front of the endzone.
That rush put the Saints’ back on top 13-7 in the third quarter.
