Williamson returns for Pelicans after two month absence

By Matt Moscona
It might be too late for the woeful New Orleans Pelicans, but forward Zion Williamson will return Tuesday night after a two month absence due to a hamstring injury. The team made the announcement Tuesday on X.
The Pelicans are last in the Western Conference at 7-29. Williamson last played on Nov. 6 in a loss to Cleveland. He has missed 27 games while recovering from the left hamstring injury.
The former No. 1 overall pick has seen his young career defined by injuries. He played a career0high 70 games last season, but exited the play-in game with a hamstring injury. He also missed the final 45 games of the 2022-23 season with a similar issue. Williamson played in only 24 games as a rookie and missed his entire third season after having offseason foot surgery.
The Pelicans, who have won their last two games following an 11-game losing streak, host the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Smoothie King Center.
