With all the excitement around the New Orleans Saints’s new quarterback situation, Wednesday’s injury report feels like a bit of a damp towel. Nine players were estimated as not participating in the team’s first practice coming off of Monday Night Football. And that list of nine includes some very important names.
Here’s the information from Wednesday’s injury report leading into the Week 6 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
Did Not Participate:
QB Derek Carr (Oblique)
S Will Harris Jr. (Hamstring)
TE Taysom Hill (Rib)
LB Pete Werner (Hamstring)
WR Rashid Shaheed (hip)
RB Alvin Kamara (Hip/Hand)
G Cesar Ruiz (Knee)
C/G Lucas Patrick (Chest)
DE Payton Turner (Knee)
Limited Participation:
LB Willie Gay Jr. (Hand)
Full Participation:
RB Kendre Miller (Hamstring) – Designated For Return

The injury report was estimated due to the short week for New Orleans. So, Saints fans should cross their fingers that this gets better with the Thursday and Friday practices. New Orleans is in desperate need of a change of fate in the health department, and quickly.
Having a banged up offensive line and missing two of your most important run-game contributors like Kamara and Hill is far from a conducive way to welcome your rookie quarterback’s first career start.
