Former LSU pitcher Paul Gervase is headed to The Show.

The Tampa Bay Rays have called up Gervase from Triple-A Durham where he has thrown 33.1 innings in 23 appearances on the season. The 6-foot-10 righty has a 3.78 ERA with 50 strikeouts.

Gervase spent the 2022 season with the Tigers after transferring from Pitt Community College. During his lone season in Baton Rouge, Gervase worked primarily as LSU’s closer, finishing the season with six saves. He made 29 appearances with a 1.89 ERA, 52 strikeouts and 15 walks in 39 innings of work.

The Mets selected Gervase in the 12th round that year, but he was traded to Tampa before last year’s trade deadline.

Gervase is the 14th former Tiger currently playing Major League Baseball. He joins Grant Taylor as former Tigers being called up this season.
