Joe Burrow is facing surgery and another long recovery after suffering a toe injury in Sunday’s win over Jacksonville.

According to a report from Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Burrow suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury which will require surgery. The injury would keep the Bengals quarterback out for at least three months.

Burrow’s young but spectacular career has been derailed by injuries. A significant knee injury in Week 11 during his rookie season cost him the balance of the 2020 season. He would win Comeback Player of the Year in 2021 while leading the Bengals to the Super Bowl. A wrist injury limited Burrow to just 10 games in 2023. He would again win Comeback Player of the Year in 2024, leading the NFL in passing yards and passing touchdowns.

Jake Browning replaced Burrow in Sunday’s win over the Jaguars. He has made seven career starts.

The projected timeline would have Burrow returning in December.
