We are done with the first month of the college football season, so let’s get right to it.
Reminder, the rankings are solely based on on-field performance through all the games from this season. It’s not a projection, it’s not based on overall talent, and it absolutely has nothing to do with last season.

Please stop turning the ball over Taylen. Also, he’s only scored one touchdown in the last two weeks.
- Gunner Stockton, Georgia
Stockton wasn’t the reason why Georgia didn’t beat Alabama on Saturday, but he could’ve been the reason they won. Throwing for 130 yards and leading an offense to just 2-of-8 on third downs deserves a drop in the rankings. Stockton is still one of three quarterbacks without an interception, but his footing in the top five has obviously slipped.
- LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina
You will never believe what the geniuses on the offensive staff decided to do with LaNorris Sellers this week against Kentucky – they used his legs.
What a concept. Sellers finished the the game 11-of-14 passing with 234 yards of offense including 14 carries for 81 yards on the ground. He’s currently third in the conference in passer rating. The one knock on him, that’s deserving at least, is that he only has five touchdowns through five games so far this season which feels shocking.

- Marcel Reed, Texas A&M
Reed didn’t put up gaudy numbers against Auburn, but he was the most efficient that he’s been all season through the air. He finished 15-of-22 with 207 yards and over nine yards per attempt. Even with the low total he is still top five in the SEC in passing yards per game and only has two turnovers so far this season.
A huge part of why A&M’s offense is so hard to stop is because of Marcel Reed’s ability to do this.
He prides himself on going through his progressions and getting the ball to his playmakers.

- Joey Aguilar, Tennessee
Tennessee fans have been in my mentions for weeks now about Aguilar deserving to be higher. I need him to stop turning the ball over before that happens. Aguilar leads the SEC in passing touchdowns with 13 on the season. He also leads the league in passing yards with 1,459. The turnovers are becoming a little bit of an issue, but it’s hard to slide someone down after throwing for 335 yards in a huge overtime win on the road.

- John Mateer, Oklahoma
There’s an argument to be made that Mateer should either be at No. 1 or not ranked at all because of his injury. But if we are being honest I haven’t eaten yet today, am very hangry, and am kind of making it up as I go.
- Ty Simpson, Alabama
It’s Ty-sman Trophy SZN time in Tuscaloosa. Simpson carved up Georgia’s defense and was incredible on Saturday night. He’s one of three quarterbacks in the league without an interception this season holding a 13-to-0 touchdown to interception ratio. Since the Florida State game, he’s completing 77.4 percent of his passes and 10.5 yards per attempt.

- Beau Pribula, Missouri
I wanted to drop Pribula to No. 4 and put Ty Simpson here after his incredible performance against Georgia. However, Pribula ranks first in the SEC in completion percentage at 75.9 percent, has a 12-to-3 touchdown to interception ratio and is coming off a game where he completed 26 of 29 passes against UMass.
- Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss
You shouldn’t lose your starting job to injury right? Well, Austin Simmons did, and John Mateer is going to lose his spot at No. 1 for the same reason. Chambliss has been incredible. He’s already racked up over 1,000 yards passing in just three starts. Chambliss was never fazed against one of the best defenses in America on Saturday, and Lane Kiffin putting the ball in his hands on fourth and three when he could’ve tried a field goal to go up eight with under two minutes to go tells you everything you need to know about how he feels towards his QB.

- Diego Pavia, Vanderbilt
Everyone keeps waiting for Pavia to drop off. Through five games it hasn’t happened yet. Last week he played Utah State and threw for five touchdowns in their 55-35 win. Pavia leads the SEC in passer rating (184.6) and QBR (88.4). He’s also second in completion percentage at 74.6 percent and has already amassed over 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns. Now the fun begins with Alabama, Texas, LSU, and Missouri.
