Ju’Juan Johnson to enter transfer portal

Stephen Lew

Ju’Juan Johnson has been searching for a position for two seasons.

Now he’ll look for a new school.

Louisiana’s all-time leader in high school all-purpose yards and touchdowns is planning to enter the transfer portal according to Matt Zentiz of CBS.

Johnson began his LSU career as a reserve safety in 2024, but he moved to running back when LSU depth was hit by injury and off the field issues. After a season at running back, he moved to quarterback in the spring but was transitioned back to running back prior to the 2025 season.

Over two seasons as a Tiger, Johnson has played in 25 games with 45 carries for 165 yards and two touchdowns. He caught 22 passes for 94 yards and another score. He also completed a 14-yard pass.

His new home will try to find more permanent role for Johnson who has done what LSU’s staff has needed for two years.

Johnson’s departure leaves LSU with only Caden Durham and Harlem Berry on scholarship moving forward pending Kaleb Jackson’s decision this month. Jackson did not play in the final two months of the seasons for LSU.. There is not a high school back in the signing class, either. LSU will be aggressive at running back in the transfer portal.
