After a busy few days, the New Orleans Saints have announced their five free agency additions. For a team that usually doesn’t get involved early on in the open market, the Saints wasted no time addressing some key positions and needs on the roster.
Before Wednesday, all agreements for players on expiring contracts were simple in principle, but not yet official. That changed as the new league year officially began at 4 p.m. ET.
The following deals were made official this afternoon.
Guard David Edwards
Reported Contract: 4 years, $61 million with $45 million guaranteed
Linebacker Kaden Elliss
Reported Contract: 3 years, $33 million with $23 million guaranteed
Running Back Travis Etienne
Reported Contract: 4 years, $52 million with $28 million guaranteed
Tight End Noah Fant
Reported Contract: 2 years, $8.75 million with $4.5 million guaranteed
Punter Ryan Wright
Reported Contract: 4 years, $14 million with $8 million guaranteed
New Orleans also announced the re-signing of defensive tackle John Ridgeway III.
While these are the contracts the team made official as additions, confirmed deals also led to some key departures. Linebacker Demario Davis, cornerback Alontae Taylor and center Luke Fortner all currently make up the biggest losses the Saints have experienced thus far.
The team also traded punter Kai Kroeger to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2028 pick swap.
These won’t be the team’s only additions and subtractions, however. As the second wave of the free agency market appears likely to bring about more moves.
Biggest Remaining Questions
The futures of defensive end Cameron Jordan and quarterback Taysom Hill are likely to be the biggest remaining uncertainties when it comes to the Saints offseason.Whether or not they will return, sign with another team or in Hill’s case, contemplate retirement will keep intrigue in the Saints’ offseason piqued.
