The NFL Draft is just 48 hours away, and for the first time in years it doesn’t seem to be littered at the top with SEC draft picks, especially in the first round.
Over the last two decades the SEC has dominated draft weekend. Here’s a look at the SEC NFL Draft dominance by the Numbers.
By The Numbers
19: The SEC has had the most draft picks of any conference for 19 consecutive years.
15: In 2025, the SEC set a new record for most first round draft picks with 15 in the first 32 picks.
26: The transfer portal created more parity, but the talent still resides primarily in the big Power Four conferences. Last year 26 of the first 32 picks in the NFL Draft were from either the SEC or the Big Ten.
79: The SEC smashed its previous record for most picks in a single NFL Draft of 65 last season with 79 players from the league getting their name called in the 2025 Draft.
17: Alabama has the current, and all-time, record for most years with a player drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft with 17 consecutive years.
107: The state of Louisiana has seen 107 players drafted from The Boot in the last decade. That’s the fifth most of any state in the country behind Florida, Texas, California, and Georgia.
392: LSU has 392 all-time NFL Draft Picks which ranks them in the top ten all-time in college football.
8: There are only eight SEC players in Mel Kiper’s final big board rankings ahead of Thursday’s Draft. That’s the fewest in the last 15 years.
