Friday’s series opener between LSU and South Carolina has been pushed back a day.
Due to inclement weather in the Baton Rouge Friday forecast, the decision was made to play a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 and 6:30. Sunday’s finale remains unchanged.
This weekend was to be Paul Mainieri’s return to Alex Box Stadium, but the former LSU and South Carolina head coach parted ways with the Gamecock program in March.
Since then, South Carolina has played better baseball. The Gamecocks were 0-4 in league play and have played to a 7-10 mark since. They’ve won two of their last three series sweeping Missouri on the road and taking a pair from Kentucky.
LSU has lost nine in a row in the league.
