By the time the 2026 NFL season rolls around, there will likely be a “too many mouths to feed” narrative surrounding the New Orleans Saints.
The team exited the 2025 season with a pair of reliable wide receivers in Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele as well as pass-catching tight end Juwan Johnson. Outside of that, while potential was present, a clear need for additional playmakers remained.
With the draft addition of Arizona State receiver Jordyn Tyson, as well as other impactful acquisitions, the Saints have more options going into 2026 on offense than they’ve had in some time.
Though the perception may eventually attempt to flip their stockpile of selections into a negative, one positive is for certain. The addition of Tyson will help Olave achieve new heights, even after a career year in 2025.
Over the closing contests of last year, Olave shined. Despite being the team’s clear and obvious top option in the passing game, he and quarterback Tyler Shough rose to the occasion.
Over Olave’s final three games–two of which did not feature Vele opposite him–the wideout averaged eight receptions, 117.3 receiving yards and better than touchdown per game.
Adding Tyson to the mix will allow Olave to continue to produce at a high level with another gravitational receiver on the mix.
With defenses having to now split focus between Tyson, Vele and Olave in the pass-catching game, especially a three-level threat like the rookie Tyson, more breakaway opportunities should open up.
Add in Johnson and the presumed running back duo of Alvin Kamara and Travis Etienne Jr. and the potential opens up even further.
New Orleans is in position to successfully transition its offense from one in need of weapons to a pick-your-poison attack under head coach Kellen Moore.
