Another former pro is Baton Rouge bound.
RJ Luis, who has spent time at UMass, St. John’s and with the NBA’s Jazz and Celtics franchises, has committed to LSU.

Luis signed a two-way contract with the Jazz in July of 2025. The Jazz traded him to Boston a month later. The Celtics waived him during training camp in October. He never appeared in an NBA G League game as he took the season to rehabilitate a knee injury.
When healthy, Luis was a standout college player. He was named Big East Player of the Year and a Second-Team All-American at St. John’s in 2024-25. Playing for legendary coach Rick Pitino, Luis averaged 18.2 points and 76.2 rebounds per game as a junior. He shot 44 percent from the floor, 34 percent from three and 75 percent from the free throw line.
The 6-foot-7 Miami native played in 58 games with 42 starts over two seasons with the Red Storm.
There are eligibility concerns with Luis because he declared for the NBA Draft and joined two NBA franchises. Legal proceedings may be necessary to get him on the floor in purple and gold. If it happens, Luis becomes one of the elite scorers in the SEC.
