LSU’s opening day third baseman is in the transfer portal.
Trent Caraway spent a season at LSU, and he’ll look elsewhere for his fourth and final college campaign. The former Oregon State Beaver hit .243 for the Tigers in 30 games making 24 starts. He only hit two home runs and fielded .946. LSU turned to John Pearson at third base late in the season.
The Tigers were looking for home run production in the portal class, and Caraway came with that pedigree. It just never materialized the way it did late for him a season ago when he started for a College World Series team. He was the Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior in high school. He is draft eligible.
