As the New Orleans Saints embrace their break ahead of training camp, there are a number of players that will attract attention in the coming weeks.
Running back Alvin Kamara and the ongoing uncertainty around his future with the team. Wide receiver Chris Olave and his hopes for a context extension. There are certainly still some lingering questions that will garner focus. Both are key examples of major storylines that could play out before the team returns to the practice field.
However, eyes will extend to those that have made an early impression in offseason practices. Here are a few offensive players to keep in mind until training camp rolls back around due to their performances.
WR Bryce Lance
The fourth-round rookie often found the football headed his way throughout offseason practices. His strongest day was in the team’s red zone work to close out the offseason practices wherein he snagged a pair of touchdowns.
Lance’s speed and reliable hands are hard to miss on the field, he’s made an impression that should hold excitement throughout the break.
TE Oscar Delp
Delp lost some time due to a hamstring injury but in the beginning of his offseason practices starting with rookie minicamp, his versatility stood out. As mandatory minicamp arrived and he returned to action, it was the athleticism that caught eyes.
Delp will be much more than a supporter of the run game in New Orleans, though that will likely be central to his rookie role. He will almost certainly grow into a pass-game contributor throughout the season. His play in training camp, beginning next month, could expedite that involvement.
WR Ja’Lynn Polk
Another wideout that took advantage of increased opportunities. From passes behind the line of scrimmage to downfield throws, Polks drew a lot of attention in practice and usually turned those chances into strong impressions.
He had one of the best catches of camp on a pass from quarterback Tyler Shough as the receiver crossed the middle of the field and is clearly motivated by the team’s investment in him. Polk is one to watch in camp.
