3 Saints to watch on Day 8 of training camp

After a two-interception day, New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough leads the list of three Saints that will be a focus during the eighth day of training camp.

QB Tyler Shough

While Shough’s pair of interceptions on Thursday weren’t ones worth a panic, they do provide the passer a chance to play with a chip on his shoulder while staying focused on executing the offense and installing the system.

One of his interceptions was on a Hail Mary heave while the other was a lesson learned in putting more force behind throwing a pass away out of the back of the endzone, but in any case, the picks set up a bounce-back opportunity for the passer that has been quietly efficient throughout camp thus far.

WR Jodyn Tyson

While rookie wideout Barion Brown has been the talk of camp, first-round pick Jordyn Tyson appears to be on the precipice of more involvement and more playmaking. If Shough is looking to attack on Saturday as the team returns to the practice field, Tyson could be the biggest beneficiary of the day.

His explosive nature is evident in his route running and movement ability, but showing out in the passing game could be the next step for the rookie pass-catcher.

LB Deion Jones

Another hometown guy has returned to the Big Easy with linebacker Deion Jones reportedly signing with the team during their day off. If he’s out on the football field during his first opportunity to practice with the team, he’ll be a quick focus.

Typically, defensive signings get to the field quickly, even if on a limited basis. The 10-year veteran backer is adding some more athleticism and depth to the linebacker room. Getting to see how much he can contribute in the off-ball game should be an intriguing story moving forward.
