LSU put the shoulder pads back on Monday morning,
The South Louisiana steam covered The Ponderosa as the second week of fall camp commenced. The Tigers will don full pads later this week as prep for Clemson ramps up.
ALIGNMENT OBSERVATIONS
When the secondary took the field for shell coverage drills, Tamarcus Cooley joined Ty Benefield at safety. They were flanked by DJ Pickett, PJ Woodland and Dashawn Spears.
Jhase Thomas has gotten some early looks with the first unit, but Cooley is not a forgotten man. He’ll figure in significantly on the back end.
Jaiden Braker continued his work with the edge rushers. LSU lists the redshirt freshman at 6-foot-3 and 223 pounds. With Gabriel Reliford out for the year and Damien Shanklin missing from practice for the second consecutive workout, Braker adds some depth at a thinning position. Reliford was riding the stationary bike during practice. He tore his ACL in spring ball.
PASSING PROGRESSION
Sam Leavitt completed 18-of-20 throws to his wide receivers running various routes without a defense.

Yellow For Green
Trey’Dez Green wore a yellow “no contact” jersey for the workout. He did not appear to be limited in any way and led the tight ends through the pass catching drills in the first period.
Green wore the “no contact” jersey all of spring. I’m unaware of any injury. Green made a nice catch on a feathery throw from Leavitt in the back of the end zone.
