The New Orleans Saints are expected to host former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold for a visit, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
New Orleans signed veteran cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. this offseason, but otherwise have been relatively quiet at the position. Arnold, who was recently released by the Lions while facing legal issues, may be viewed as a potential depth piece for the team.
His legal challenges are significant. He currently faces four felony counts of armed robbery and another four felony counts of kidnapping tied to a July arrest.
With an arraignment set for Aug. 13, further clarity into the situation could be on the way. Arnold’s representation released a statement after he posted his $1 million bond stating Arnold “categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence.”
If convicted, Arnold’s charges could result in a life sentence.
His legal proceedings will surely factor into any potential of landing with another team, the Saints or otherwise. Reports have connected him to the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets along with recent or upcoming visits with the Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks.
New Orleans has its two starting cornerbacks in place with Kool-Aid McKinstry and Quincy Riley both standing out in training camp. The team also has veteran depth with Emerson and Isaac Yiadom backing up the young duo.
Arnold has appeared in 24 games over his two years since being drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He’s tallied one interception, 18 passes defended and 91 combined tackles.
