During joint practices with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the New Orleans Saints saw their first-round rookie wide receiver, Jordyn Tyson, leave early with an apparent leg injury.

The injury was confirmed by Saints Head Coach Kellen Moore in his post-practice press conference.

“Something with his leg,” he said. “Him, and (safety Terrell Burgess) was the other guys that left, something with their lower body.”

When asked whether or not the injury was connected to Tyson’s previous hamstring injury, Moore didn’t have enough information to confirm or deny, but did mention that there is an expectation to have more information on Friday.

Tyson has been healthy throughout training camp after the Saints took it easy with him over the course of the offseason. He’s been a steady participant in team drills and has done everything but one-on-ones.

The first-round wideout entered the NFL with a history of injuries, drawing concern, but the hope is that this one is minor.

Expect New Orleans, as they have with other top players throughout camp so far, to be cautious around this situation. The starters for New Orleans weren’t expected to see much action in the upcoming preseason game against Jacksonville, which means Tyson was likely set to rest until the team returns to the practice field after the weekend.

Tyson’s injury occurred on a play where he made an impressive diving catch. He remained on the ground for a brief amount of time before getting up and jogging off of the field. A positive sign.

The Saints will have a walkthrough at the Caesars Superdome on Friday. After which, Moore will speak to the media. At which time, an update on Tyson’s condition is expected, assuming he isn’t on the field for the walkthrough.
