The New Orleans Saints have made a trade to help reinforce their united running backs.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Saints are sending linebacker Deion Jones to the San Francisco 49ers in return for running back Zamir White.
The Saints signed Jones just over two weeks ago before trading the former Jesuit High and LSU Tiger to the Raiders. It was clear that Jones was in the back of the pack when it came to a potential roster spot in New Orleans.
Now, he gets a chance to catch on in the Bay Area while the Saints get reinforcements at running back, managing a number of injuries at the position.

- Alvin Kamara – knee
- Audric Estime – ankle
- Devin Neal – hamstring
Estime and Kamara are expected to miss time that could bleed into the 2026 regular season. Meanwhile, a source with knowledge of Neal’s injury tells LouisianaSports.Net the injury Neal suffered during the team’s second preseason game is under a reoccurrence of his previous hamstring injury.
With Neal now also expected to miss time to properly address his injury, adding White to the running back room is a smart move by New Orleans.
White, 26, is entering his fifth year in the league. He has 198 rushing attempts for 736 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns in his career.
He will join the Saints as they look for help in the backfield as they manage an onslaught of injuries.
