On the first day of school, LSU added some serious size from overseas.
Israeli seven-footer Gilad Levy has committed to the Tigers, LouisianaSports.net has confirmed. It was initially reported by Tomer Givati of Israel Hayom. Levy is a 24-year-old who stands 7-foot-3.
According to his Basketball Reference page, Levy has played three years of professional basketball in the Israeli league. Most recently, he played for Afula in 2024-25.
His action has been limited. In 18 games for Afula, he averaged 5.6 minutes and 1.7 points per game. He only attempted 21 shots.
In 51 professional games, he’s blocked 16 shots and grabbed 113 rebounds.
LSU is still looking to fill out its frontcourt. The backcourt is loaded with veteran playmakers with collegiate track records. The eligibility of Marcio Santos, Michael Ruzik and Brice Dessert is still up in the air, and the same could be said for Levy.
If the Tigers can add two or three of those four, the team looks very strong on paper. That remains to be seen as legal battles ensue, conference commissioners speak out and eligibility issues dominate the news cycle.
