The New Orleans Saints are welcoming back one of their best offseason events of training camp: their practice at Yulman Stadium on Tulane University’s campus.
The evening offers a break from the heat for players and fans and an intimate but comfortably sized venue at sunset in Uptown, New Orleans. As fans get an up-close view of the action, here are three players to keep a close eye on throughout the night.
WR Chris Olave
Wide receiver Chris Olave was sent down hard in practice on Tuesday and left the practice field early. The initial belief is that he simply had the wind knocked out of him after landing on his back with quite a bit of force.
Seeing him back on the field Wednesday night would be a positive sign because of the amount of work he and quarterback Tyler Shough have been putting in a show all camp.
RB Kendre Miller
Since his return to the practice field in Oxnard, Calif., running back Kendre Miller has been impressive. Continuing that trend will be important for him late in camp during his battle to hold on to his roster spot despite a lot of competition on the roster.
He spent the offseason recovering from an ACL tear and subsequent surgery before suffering a back injury early in training camp. Since returning, Miller’s not looked bogged down by either ailment.
EDGE Chase Young
I’m not sure that any player has had a better training camp than edge rusher Chase Young. He’s been consistent, disruptive in multiple areas, a lightning rod of energy and when he’s not making plays himself, it’s because he’s drawing attention away from his teammates and opening opportunities for them.
Keeping an eye on No. 99 is sure to provide some fireworks on the defensive side.
